MIMS New Zealand

MIMS was introduced in New Zealand in late 2001. Initially as the country’s first integrated medicines resource in GPs workflow (Medtech32), closely followed by a desktop version for GPs as well as an integrated resource for pharmacy (Toniq Dispensary software).

MIMS Asia was launched in Asia over 40 years ago, and today serves medical professionals in 13 Asian countries, including China, India, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Consistently cited by Asian physicians as their top choice of drug reference, MIMS continually evolves to keep abreast of Asian physicians’ information-seeking needs and preferences. This helps to make drug information accessible across multiple channels, to facilitate information retrieval at the point of prescription.

Designed as an essential information tool in a physician’s daily workflow, MIMS has grown from a desk top drug directory delivering the most up‑to‑date and complete drug information, to a new generation drug and medical reference tool available at every point of care, encompassing print publications, online drug search portal MIMS.com and integrated drug knowledge bases within hospital information systems.

In 2009, MIMS marked its 40th year milestone with an Excellence Award in the use of digital technology at the Asian Multimedia Publishing Award. The online search portal MIMS.com was noticed for its innovative use of digital technology, multi-country databases and clinical content integration to help doctors, pharmacists and allied healthcare professionals find answers quickly and confidently in their daily clinical workflow. Today, over 400,000 users log on to this unique, one-stop drug search; accessing over 4 million pages each month.

The MIMS team continually researches and implements relevant clinical practice content beyond drug prescription information. Examples include enhancing MIMS.com drug monographs with one-click access to search related clinical information from PubMed’s extensive database, and the integration of the National Health Insurance code in the Taiwan drug database.

MIMS aims to deliver relevant and responsive drug information to help the Asian medical community improve their therapeutic and patient management outcomes. In line with this vision, the team continues to explore physician users’ habits, data trends and extensive use of digital technology to deliver pertinent and crucial clinical information across multiple channels at every point of care.
