New Product - FluQuadri and FluQuadri Junior
FluQuadri and FluQuadri Junior (inactivated quadrivalent influenza vaccine (split virion)) for intramuscular injection is an inactivated influenza virus vaccine, prepared from influenza viruses propagated in embryonated chicken eggs. It is formulated to contain the following four influenza strains recommended for the 2015 influenza season: A/California/07/2009 (H1N1)pdm09‑like virus (A/California/07/2009 X‑179A); A/Switzerland/9715293/2013 (H3N2)-like virus (A/South Australia/55/2014 IVR‑175); B/Phuket/3073/2013‑like virus (B/Phuket/3073/2013; Yamagata lineage) and B/Brisbane/60/2008‑like virus (B/Brisbane/60/2008; Victoria lineage). The type and amount of viral antigens contained in FluQuadri/FluQuadri Junior conform to the annual requirements of the Australian Influenza Vaccine Committee (AIVC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations for the season. FluQuadri and FluQuadri Junior are indicated for active immunisation of influenza disease caused by influenza A subtype viruses and type B viruses contained in the vaccine. FluQuadri is indicated for use in adults and children 3 years and older. FluQuadri Junior is indicated for use in children aged 6 months to 35 months inclusive. FluQuadri/FluQuadri Junior should not be administered to anyone with a known systemic hypersensitivity reaction, such as anaphylaxis, after previous administration of any influenza vaccine or to any component of the vaccine (e.g. egg or egg products). Vaccination should be postponed in case of moderate or severe acute or febrile disease with or without fever, but a mild disease with low‑grade fever is usually not a reason to postpone vaccination. Fluquadri is available as a purple 0.5 mL prefilled syringe containing 60 microgram haemagglutinin (HA) in the recommended ratio of 15 microgram HA of each of the four strains in packs of 10’s. FluQuadri Junior is available as a yellow 0.25 mL prefilled syringe containing 30 microgram HA per 0.25 mL dose in the recommended ratio of 7.5 microgram HA of each of the four strains in packs of 10’s.
