Adapting to the needs of the healthcare industry
MIMS data has historically been developed for the primary care market. Data and content creation had been geared towards providing the most essential information to medical practitioners and pharmacists in this particular sector. In recent years, it has become increasingly apparent that the needs of the acute care sector, an equally important service provider, are diverse and extremely different from that of the primary care sector.
Over the past few years, MIMS has responded to the different needs in the primary care (including GP, specialist and pharmacy) and acute care environments by tailoring products and content to their specific needs. Some recent examples has been the incorporation of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists Don’t Rush to Crush content in versions of MIMS Online supplied to several of the State health portals.
However, rather than be complacent and to remain adaptable to future changes, MIMS has established an Innovations team who will engage members of the healthcare community involved in various patient care spaces. By further investigating the emerging needs of both primary care and acute care providers, MIMS will be able to deliver versatile data structures and models that will fit into the workflow of every healthcare professional in every step of patient care. In so doing, MIMS becomes truly integrated into the everyday practices of the healthcare community.
Having been in the healthcare space for over 50 years, such proactive research into the ever changing needs of our end users will help MIMS to remain relevant for the next 50 years and more.
